New Additions to the Apartment

Our apartment was furnished with most things you would need when we first arrived. But we had 2 extra rooms with nothing in them. So we decided to move one couch into one of those rooms for guests to stay in and went looking for a couch to put in the living room. Our boss told us about a used furniture store called “Recycle” in Cheonan. I hate buying things new and it is very hard to find used places in Korea (at least in proximity to where we live) so we got in the car and headed to Recycle.

Cheonan Recycle Store

It took about an hour but it was definitely worth the drive. There wasn’t a language barrier but there was a cultural barrier. We found a couch that was perfect and a good price. But the manager at first said no shipping to Sinpyeong. We were bummed. But we are very fortunate to have a Korean boss. We called her and she talked to him and we found out that the manager thought the price for shipping was too high and he didn’t want to insult us. We explained that she shipping price was fine and made a deal.

So we got a couch for 50,000 won ($50), a coffee table, some tupperware, and a small cabinet with drawers, delivered all for 120,000 won. This is less than the cost of a new couch! What a deal!
Here is what the store looks like in case you are ever in the area. I strongly recommend this place. The guys English was pretty good and he delivered it to our apartment. Sweet deal!
